[SMAUG] Attribute effects



One thing that has been bothering me and causing me to
look for alterations is how attributes affect a
character. I really dislike the fact that say
intelligence affects a players mana when they LEVEL...
that means that a buffed out character from level 1
will be way more powerful at level 50 than someone who
started with nothing... Or am i wrong here? 

One of these reasons is that i have done a little
expanding the areas of attributes, and I am wondering
where i should look to just make an equation add a
certain amount of stats per attribute point depending
on the players level, what ever level they might be.
So if someone equiped an earing that gave 2
intelligence lets say at level 10, their max mana
would increase, and if they took it off it would
decrease back to where it was. Kind of like a spell
buff i guess, that is permanent as long as they are
wearing the item. If that makes more sense. 

Kind of complicated... I'm just looking for a way
around attributes affecting people when they level,
and having it affect them in a general way. Level
still matters of course. 

Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated, If I have
the wrong idea about how the attribute system affects
the game, my mistake. I'm still in the building stages
of my MUD and am just looking for ways to improve.
